Candy Domes are my favorite DIY craft projects and once you've seen them, they'll soon be yours too! These candy domes are made with colorful candy and are sure to be the centerpiece of any table or part of the party bags. It takes a bit of patience, but once you've got the hang of it, the possibilities for customization are endless!

What You Will Need:

  • Cricut Sticky Mat

  • Cardstock Paper

  • Bearly Glue

  • Hot Glue

  • Paper Fastners

  • Fillable Ornaments

  • Candy

Instructions:

I am working on making my projects into SVG's to purchase off of my Etsy account so that if you want to make these specific ones you will be able to.

1. Find a design you like that works to have a circle in the middle. I drew my designs on ProCreate app on my iPad and uploaded it to Design Space.

2. If your design doesn't have a cut out for the candy yet, just input

a half circle shape into the design and slice the images so that you

make the cut out. See the picture here. You will want to make two pieces

like this (or even 3 and glue the bottom 2 layers together to make the

bottom more stable) so that you can twist the bottom to open.

I also sliced a small circle in the middle of these images so I could easily

put the paper fastener into the candy dome.

3. Cut out the images with the Cricut Machine. I like to start with the

pieces that I can start gluing together while the other pieces are

being cut. I like to use a lot of layers on the bottom so that it makes it sturdier. Otherwise when the candy is in it could fall out of the bottom.

4. Once all the layers are cut out and the necessary layers are glued together, take the pieces that will be used with the fasteners and line those up. Put the paper fastener through the hole and secure it by separating the pegs, shown in the picture above. To make my bottom layer thicker I cut two of the dark green circle and once the fastener was in, I glued that same shape over it to hide the fastener and also to make it thicker.

5. Hot glue he dome on top of the cut outs with the paper fasteners. Make sure the dome is over the half circle part so candy does not fall out.

6. Now you can hot glue any other part of the design to the dome. This

picture here, I added the face of the turtle, and a border over the dome so

it covers the top of the fillable ornament.

7. Fill the dome with Candy and twist the bottom layer to close it and

you're done!
